Ology Recon · Mac · version 2.4.25

Know the work before you bid.

Recon brings research, terrain, survey planning, cost assumptions, and reporting into one project workspace. It also prepares an offline crew package and receives the complete field return for office review.

One project workspace

Project context → reviewed decisions
01Boundary, prior records, terrain, access
02Bid report, crew plan, travel estimate
03Offline package for the field crew
04Returned GIS, forms, and DPR drafts

Planning estimates and generated drafts remain subject to professional review.

Project research

Bring the evidence into the same map.

Start from a boundary and survey areas, then compare available records with landscape and access information. Source gaps stay visible so assumptions can be checked.

MAP

Project and reference layers

Organize boundaries, survey areas, buffers, imagery, historic maps, geology, vegetation, water, land management, and prior coverage.

GIS

Search the master

Connect an Intelligence master to review known resources and linked records within the project and search area. Unlocated records remain identified as such.

DEM

Terrain studio

Inspect elevation, slope, hillshade, and LiDAR-derived views. Adjust terrain layers in the map, use the full offline area for DEM coverage, and prepare seamless report figures.

Project and bid report

Turn scope into a reviewable estimate.

Recon's report brings together the project setting, known resources, regional and local history, expected recording, access, risks, methods, and maps placed alongside the sections they explain. Its editable level-of-effort worksheet can become a priced estimate when rates are supplied.

Version 2.4.25 includes a recommended crew plan, alternative crew choices, field days and trips, driving time, automatic or set lodging distance, and GSA per diem. Wording for small jobs and terrain map export were refined in this release.

What a bidder can review

  • Survey and recording effort assumptions
  • Crew size, schedule, and trip alternatives
  • Travel, lodging, and per diem estimates
  • Terrain, access, historic, and resource map figures
  • Editable methods and level-of-effort details

The report supports scoping; it does not determine site presence or satisfy consultation requirements by itself.

Field handoff and return

Prepare the crew, then bring back the complete record.

OUT

Recon to iPhone

Refine survey areas and lines, organize offline maps and reference layers, then export a crew package with the current project context. Crews can work away from cell service.

IN

iPhone to Recon

Import each complete field return with structured forms, photos, tracks, and GIS. Review contributors, discrepancies, site boundaries, coverage, and missing details before preparing deliverables.

Editable DPR drafts

Recon can assemble site folders with numbered Word drafts, inventories, photo material, GIS, original field forms, and a basic sketch from collected geometry. A qualified reviewer finalizes content and layout.

GIS for reporting

Export reviewed features and survey data for professional mapping and analysis. Return the approved records and geometry to Intelligence so the master can be updated.

Connected workflow

Recon is the bridge between bid and office review.

The iPhone app records the survey and forms. Intelligence maintains the reusable master that Recon searches on later jobs.
